Join Breast Cancer Victors Maria & Nancy for an artistic journey of Hope through the experiences of victors who are here to share their courage and grace through a candlelit meditation at 9:30 pm. Free to anyone who wishes to attend.
Maria Ciampa-DeRubeis, DeRubeis (L) M.S.W., R.S.W.
has practiced social work in the Windsor/Essex area for the last 25 years and her expertise is in working with individuals who have experienced trauma or loss, childhood sexual abuse, depression, anxiety, Post Traumatic Stress Disorder (PTSD), grief/loss, stress, and anger management
Maria says: “ I am a mother of 2 beautiful children, Kailey and Brycen, as well as a step-mom to Krystal. I am in a loving and supportive relationship with the love of my life Bob. In January 2011 at the age of 48 I was diagnosed with Stage II Breast Cancer. I have decided to look at this as a way of “what is this teaching about me”. I believe this journey is a message for me to make changes in my life. It is a daily reminder that life is too short. Cancer sucks, chemo sucks, but I must fight to stay focused on how precious life is, each day is a gift. I am a Warrior!”
Nancy Drew (R) CYT, HairStylist, Vocalist, Musician
Occupationally as a hairstylist, yoga brought great physical and mental relief and as a musician, opened her heart to many possibilities. The great challenge was to come as in Feb 2009, a diagnosis of breast cancer allowed her to put her practice to the ultimate test. A joyful survivor, she is currently sharing her yoga practice as a teacher in the local community.
An experience to a Sivananda Ashram sealed the deal and at this time and interest in Kirtan and Chant was born.
They will close the yoga practice portion of our event with Inspiration and Hope. This is open to all and anyone to attend free of charge.
This class is candlelit with Pink Luminaries
