Yoga raises funds for hope

On Sunday morning, instructors from Bright Yoga used the artistic art form to promote wellness at Sadler’s Park through a fundraising gig to benefit Yoga 4 Hope.

Instructor Kelly Henley said the yoga fundraiser held at Sadler’s Park was one of many she will take part in leading up to the main fundraising event to be held at the Vollmer Complex in LaSalle on August 25. The Pajama Angels charity created and continues to host the event.

This is the second year Bright Yoga has participated in the fundraiser, which supports health initiatives for cancer and chronic disease research and prevention. Last year, the main event at the Vollmer Complex raised $15,000, Henley said. This year’s benefactors will be the grant program Seeds 4 Hope and Dr. Pandey’s lab at the University of Windsor to help fund their studies on dandelion root extract.

Bright Yoga raised over $1000 for the Yoga 4 Hope event last year. “It’s for a worthwhile cause. I love the idea that the money stays local,” Henley said.

Instructor Janice Mullins admires that the event has a focus on disease prevention.

Mullins and Henley noted it was important for them to get involved with the event as it is near and dear to their hearts for personal reasons. It is lovely, they said, how the community could get together to support its residents.
